Some nets on Labrador (24 Dec 2011)

This bunch of nets was entangled in a branch on Labrador shore.

We also saw a few more smaller batches of nets.

Humungous driftnets at Pulau Ubin (18 Dec 11)

Today, a small team bravely attempt to remove a huge pile of abandoned driftnets on Pulau Ubin.

The nets are badly entangled among mangrove tree roots and draped all over the shore.

Two driftnets at Sisters Island (2 Oct 2011)

Two long driftnets were found laid in the reefy swimming lagoon of Big Sisters Island.

Fortunately, the team was experienced in dealing with this and quickly swung into action to document the animals trapped in the net, and release those that were still alive.

Very long driftnet at Tuas (27 Sep 11)

We came across a very very VERY long driftnet on Tuas today.

The small team tried our best to remove as much as we could.

Nets in the mangroves at Semakau (14 Aug 2011)

A small team headed to remove driftnets at the mangroves of Pulau Semakau this morning.

Andy is hard at work on the mangroves growing on the seawall. You can see the huge ropes that have gotten entangled in the mangrove trees here.

Pulau Semakau (25 Jun 2011)

A small team removed a long abandoned driftnet at Pulau Semakau today.

The net was 48m long when we measured it with the tape. But including the bunched up portions, it's probably about 50m long.

Pulau Semakau (28 May 2011)

Volunteers today removed a huge heavy duty net that washed ashore on Pulau Semakau.

It was a very large and heavy net! Back breaking work in the hot mid-day sun on a not-so-low tide.
