Sadly, but not surprisingly, we came across a driftnet during our National Day visit to Pulau Semakau.
In the short portion of the net that I surveyed, I saw 14 horseshoe crabs that were still alive and struggling and seemed freshly entangled in the net. Including two pairs of male and female. They all looked like Coastal horseshoe crabs.

Very long driftnet at Chek Jawa (21 Jul 2013)
A very long driftnet was seen at Chek Jawa during a predawn survey there.
It was laid on top of all kinds of marine life that might be damaged or uprooted when the net is removed.

Abandoned net at Chek Jawa (27 Jan 2013)
A large abandoned net was seen during TeamSeagrass monitoring at Chek Jawa.
Fortunately, most of it was no longer able to trap animals. We removed a small portion that was still 'active'.
